By artist Ricky Lee Gordon as a gift to the city in honour of Madiba’s legacy. The text at the foot of the mural reads, ‘I am because we are’ , inspired by the definition of ubuntu, the philosophy of humanity that Madiba and southern Africans subscribe to.

The Colorful Cooling Towers in Soweto, South Africa by JD Andrews

The Orlando Power Station, with its distinctive cooling towers, is an old coal fired power station in Soweto, South Africa. It was decommissioned in 1998 after 56 years of service.

One tower is an advertising billboard and the other is the largest mural painting in South Africa. For the adventurous types, the towers are also used for bungee and BASE jumping from 100m (328ft) up.
