Small, Cute and Irresistible - Shetland Ponies, Scotland / by JD Andrews

I've heard of them, I've even seen them at kids Birthday parties but I never made the connection between Shetland ponies and Shetland Island in Scotland, until I actually visited the Isle and saw these cute little guys with my own two eyes!

The Shetland pony is a breed of pony originating in the Shetland Isles. Shetlands range in size from a minimum height of approximately 28 inches to an official maximum height of 42 inches.

Shetland ponies have heavy coats, short legs and are considered quite intelligent.

They are a very strong breed of pony, used for riding, driving, and pack purposes.

In appearance, Shetlands have a small head, sometimes with a dished face, widely-spaced eyes and small and alert ears.

When you plan your trip to Scotland, try to make it over to Shetland Island and see these cute little ponies for yourself. Trust me, you will want to take one home!

Shetland Pony info provided by Wikipedia - why, because I don't know anything about Shetland Ponies except they are small and cute.   :)
