They looked more like something you'd be eating noodles out of not boating in.
During my trip to Vietnam last year we made a quick stop at a beach in Da Nang, this is the first time I've ever seen anything like these woven bamboo basket boats.
We were told they were used by the fishermen to come ashore from their anchored boats in the bay.
From the beach you can see the giant statue of Bodhisattva Kwan Yin.
We witnessed a fisherman paddling to shore in one of the 'bowl boats'
It was very interesting to see how he used the waves to come ashore. His 'bowl boat' didn't look like the others on the beach, It seemed to be made of fiberglass.
I'm glad we made this pit-stop on the way to Hoi An, next time I hope to spend more time and eXplore Da Nang.
